It’s not just hamburgers and craft beers we care about. At Beef & Liberty we’re passionate about doing our bit, whether it’s looking after the environment, or just helping out our friends and neighbours. Here’s how…

Talking Dirty

Hong Kong is a beautiful place and we want it to stay that way, which is why at Beef & Liberty we are the proud owners of our very own water cleansing & purification system.

By purifying, bottling and carbonating our own water in-house we are saving thousands of glass water bottles from the jaws of landfill.

And we don’t just stop there. HKD 5 is donated to local campaign, HK Cleanup, from each bottle of water consumed.

Each year, HK Cleanup encourages people all across Hong Kong to go and clean up their local beach, countryside, or even street, in a bid to raise awareness of the fact that every single day in Hong Kong 16,000 tonnes of trash are sent to landfill.

Farm to Fork

We are as obsessed with serving the best hamburgers in town as we are obsessed with knowing where our food comes from. Here at Beef & Liberty, our food journey always begins with the source.

Our hormone-free grass-fed beef comes from Hereford and Angus cattle which are naturally raised by small-scale farmers in Tasmania, which has the cleanest air in the world. They live by a 'never, never' program, which ensure the cows are never given antibiotics or growth hormones, and ensure the welfare of the cows.

Our Mangalica Pork comes from rare-breed, free-range pigs that originate in Hungary. Our Executive Chef, Neil Tomes, visited one of the small farms in 2015 to see first-hand what goes into rearing these magnificent animals.

Our Greenland Halibut comes from the chilly boreal waters of the North Atlantic, where populations are healthy and harvested at sustainable rates.

As for our craft beer, we’re very excited about the growing craft beer revolution here in Hong Kong and support local brewers such as Young Master Ales, Black Kite, Gweilo Beer and Moonzen - all of which appear regularly on our taps and bottle list.

Our guests can rest assured that where we can, our ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, with as much thought for the quality and taste, as for the people that have produced them.

Being Green Rocks

Every little helps.

We love our takeaway packaging so much; it’s all made with recyclable materials and is biodegradable, but we won’t let you have too much of it!

We are leading a new campaign for retro straws – we’ve replaced plastic straws with vintage paper straws – anybody remember those?

We want to see those plates scraped clean, so we will serve the right-size portions to avoid unnecessary food waste.

We’re cool, but not that cool. We avoid over-use of air conditioning to reduce energy!

Light’s out. All appliances and lights are switched off at night, and we use low-energy lighting systems.

We’ve not got much bottle; where we can, all glass bottles are sent to recycling.

Moved by Movember

Each year, we turn mo and mo crazy for Movember, raising funds and awareness for men’s health issues in Hong Kong, including mental health and prostate cancer. Indulge in our Mo Specials and raise mo money for Movember, join the Mid Mo Party and celebrate with Mo style. You will even see our staff getting up to Mo mischief throughout Movember, the month formerly known as November.

Go Girls

Every March, we help to raise awareness of International Women’s Day by donating funds from our menu to local charity, The Women’s Foundation. Let’s here it for the girls!

Frisky not Risky

When you visit the bathrooms at Beef & Liberty, you won’t need to take any chances when you see the famously decorated condom machines, thanks to local street artists Parent’s Parents.

100% of condom sales through our unique vending machines are donated to local AIDS support charity, AIDS Concern.
